“We have cumulatively created over 11.6 lakh jobs, enabled nearly $5 billion in exports and digitised over 40 lakh MSMEs in India,” said Manish Tiwary, Country Manager, India Consumer Business Amazon India.

These jobs are across industries like IT, e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, content creation, skill development and more.

Earlier this month, Amazon announced it aims exports worth $20 billion from India by 2025, thus doubling its goal. In 2020, Amazon pledged to enable $10 billion in cumulative exports from India by 2025.

In January 2020, the company had pledged to digitise 1 crore MSMEs.

To date, it has empowered over 40 lakh MSMEs including sellers, artisans and weavers, delivery and logistics service partners, etc.

“Technology and mobile internet will continue to positively impact India’s economic growth, and we see Amazon playing a larger role in the country’s digital transformation and a modern, thriving digital economy,” Tiwary added.

The company last year announced the $250 million Amazon Smbhav Venture Funda to invest in startups and entrepreneurs who are focused on technology innovations.

As part of the fund, Amazon has already invested in startups like MyGlamm, M1xchange and Small Case.

Crypto data websites Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse and others reported such phishing attacks, reports CoinDesk.

The phishing attack appears to come from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club logo.A

“The situation is caused by a malicious ad script by Coinzilla, a crypto ad network – we have disabled it now but there may be some delay due to CDN caching. We are monitoring the situation further. Do stay on alert and don’t connect your Metamask on CoinGecko,” CoinGecko said in a tweet on Saturday.

In a tweet, Etherscan urged users to “not confirm any transactions” that popped up on its website.

“We’ve received reports of phishing popups via a 3rd party integration and are currently investigating. Please be careful not to confirm any transactions that pop up on the website,” Etherscan said.

The phishing attack on crypto data websites came as stablecoins like Terra Luna crashed and Coinbase suffered a huge outage.

Earlier, leading crypto exchange Coinbase suffered a major outage amid crypto mayhem especially with the cryptocurrency Terra Luna, heightening fears among the investors.

The Coinbase outage came as Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, suspended trading of Terraform Labs’ Terra (Luna) and TerraUSD (UST) tokens, which crashed 98 per cent, wiping out the life savings of its investors.

On Thursday, over $275 billion were wiped off from global crypto market cap within 24 hours and Bitcoin dropped to nearly $27,000, a level it saw in December 2020.

The world’s second largest cryptocurrency Ethereum joined the cryptocurrency crash, plummeting in value by 20 per cent.

Google to remove nearly 900K abandoned apps from Play Store

Google to remove nearly 900K abandoned apps from Play Store

Tech giant Google is preparing to purge nearly 900,000 apps, which have been abandoned or not been updated, from the Play Store.

According to Android Authority, the Google Play Store could see the number of available apps drop by nearly a third.

Google and Apple have both unveiled measures to deal with abandoned apps or apps that have not been updated in two years. In Google’s case, that amounts to 869,000 apps, while Apple has some 650,000.

According to CNET, Google is preparing to hide those apps, making it impossible for users to download them until the developers update them.

The main reason both companies are taking these measures is to protect their users’ security.

Older apps do not take advantage of changes in Android and iOS, new APIs, or new development methods that bring enhanced protection. As a result, older apps can have security flaws that newer apps don’t have, the report said.
